This is a communication and language-based project initiated to support better understanding and exchange with my sister. If anything were to happen to my parents, there would be no one left who could engage my sister in conversation as she deserves.
The McGuire Memorial and the Employment Option Center (EOC) have requested an audio CD containing side-by-side verbal pronunciations of words from my sister’s vocabulary, spoken both by her and by our mother. This recording is intended to function, eventually, as a surrogate—preserving the specificity of her speech and the relational context in which it is understood.
Literacy within Juli’s linguistic system is complex and non-commodifiable, and cannot be adequately addressed through commercial or standardized language resources.
As her sister, I am initiating an online index that begins to navigate these complexities. It is an incomplete and provisional guide—an impossible one—but a resource nonetheless.

The interface includes:
-contextualizing conversational video footage.
-subtitled GIFs where sign language is used, both standardized by ASL and not.
-soundbytes of verbal pronunciations.
-footnotes which aim to contextualize and/or categorize the origin of Juli’s verbal and signified representations.
The index currently accounts only for Juli’s daily narrative in care and activities. It will be maintained, updated, and streamlined as necessary.
