TENDER BUTTONS: ROOMS
reinterpreted text, 2019
blueprint of a domestic space following [select] terms and conditions set fourth by Gertrude Stein in Tender Buttons
I isolated Gertride Stein’s cubist prose so as to appear rationalized into inhabitable space. I organized her text into hierarchal categories of rules that could be applied to the construction of a single, domestic place.
There would be four, closed rooms and a hallway with a staircase—which I took the liberty of understanding to be two-story home. Certain rules were applied across all rooms. Others applied individually. Many applied to mere corners.
Though both serial and graphic, the project is not generative nor completist.
